Beginner Guide: Your First Hour in Anime Expeditions

Complete beginner walkthrough for Anime Expeditions: lobby navigation, summoning, unit management, and clearing your first story stages from day one.

Anime Expeditions is a polished anime tower defense on Roblox with gacha summoning, deep unit customization, and multiple game modes. If you are coming from Anime Defenders, Universal Tower Defense, or Anime Vanguards, the core loop will feel familiar — place units, stop waves, earn Yen, upgrade towers — but the lobby systems and quality-of-life features set this game apart. This guide walks you through everything you need during your first session, from spawning in the hub to beating your opening story stages.

Understanding the Lobby Layout

When you load in, you spawn in a central circle facing the True Saint Beginner Path event board. Walk forward and explore the hub — it is organized into clearly labeled zones. The Summon portal and Unit Index sit near spawn. The Upgrades area houses evolution, trait rerolls, crafting, ascension, and shiny transfer stations. Story, Raids, Challenges, AFK, Guilds, and Tournaments each have dedicated buildings or portals scattered around the map. The sidebar menu gives quick access to Store, Units, Items, Quests, Summon, Areas, Play, Events, Battlepass, Guild, Profile, and Calendar.

  • Summon area: Pull units from banners using Gems
  • Upgrades area: Evolve, reroll traits, craft items, ascend dupes
  • Story building: Access all story maps and star missions
  • Showcase circle: Test unit attacks on infinite enemy spawns
  • AFK chamber: Earn passive rewards while away
  • Raid building: Co-op endgame content (unlocks at level 25)

Start with the Beginner Path Event

Before spending any Gems, open the Events menu and begin the True Saint Beginner Path. This multi-page quest line teaches core mechanics while rewarding gems, trait rerolls, equipment, a farm unit, and most importantly Beginner Banner tickets. Completing these quests unlocks the Beginner Banner — a special banner featuring every Mythic unit in the game with its own pity track. Treat the Beginner Path as mandatory; the rewards accelerate your entire early game.

Your First Summons and Team Building

Head to the Summon screen once you have tickets or gems from the Beginner Path. The Beginner Banner is your priority — it guarantees a strong Mythic within its pity system and gives access to units like Cursed Student, String Demon, Hollow, and Flame Emperor. Use Summon 10x whenever possible for efficiency. After summoning, open the Units menu to inspect your roster. Each unit displays DMG, SPA (attack speed), RNG (range), and letter grades for quick comparison. Equip your highest-DPS units and add a Yen farmer — filter the unit list by "Money Units" to find Ramen Guy or Stone Alchemist.

Mythic units also have extra customization: skin slots, accessory slots, AoE color slots, equipment, and character-specific relic equipment. Do not worry about optimizing these on day one — focus on leveling your damage dealers and placing a farm unit in every story run.

Clearing Your First Story Stages

Enter the Story building and select School Grounds — the opening map and your first progression area. Each stage lists star missions on the left side of the HUD: typical goals include winning the stage, spending under a Yen cap, and finishing without losing stocks (lives). Enable Auto Skip Wave and Auto Upgrade in the in-match menu to speed up early farming. Place your Yen farmer first, then your main DPS units along the path with pre-placing (a quality-of-life feature borrowed from Anime Last Stand). Upgrade units mid-wave using the on-screen buttons — Priority targeting lets you focus on First (closest to exit) or Strongest enemies.

After clearing a few School Grounds stages, check your daily and weekly quests for evolution materials and reroll items. Open the Unit Quests tab if you pulled a Mythic — each Mythic has a trial stage that rewards its specific evolution item upon completion, saving you hours of grinding. By the end of your first hour you should have a Beginner Banner pull or two, a three-unit team with a farmer, and several School Grounds stages cleared with at least one star each.

  • Run 10 daily challenge attempts for resource drops
  • Check the Wandering Trader when Forge Fever or Storm Weather events are active
  • Redeem any active codes from the official Discord
  • Use the Showcase circle to test new units before committing gems to leveling them

Perguntas Frequentes

What should I summon on first?

Complete the Beginner Path event first, then pull exclusively on the Beginner Banner. It features all Mythics with a favorable pity system and is the best source of early power.

Do I need a Yen farming unit?

Yes. Units like Ramen Guy or Stone Alchemist increase Yen earned from kills, letting you place and upgrade more towers during a stage. Filter your unit list by money units to find them.

What are star missions?

Each story stage has optional objectives such as winning under a Yen budget or without losing lives. Completing them earns extra rewards and pushes area completion percentage.

How do unit quests work?

When you summon a Mythic, a unit quest unlocks in the Quest menu. Complete the preset trial stage to earn that unit's evolution item — for example, Burning Fruit for Sabo or Elixir of Life for Hollow.

Can I play with friends from the start?

Yes. Story stages support co-op. Invite friends through the Play menu to tackle harder waves together and share the learning curve during your first sessions.

What gamepasses are worth buying early?

VIP reduces summon costs and speeds up AFK rewards. Shiny Hunter doubles shiny drop rates permanently. Neither is required to progress, but VIP helps if you plan to summon frequently.
